Hi, I’m Sallie, intrepid taster and food thrill-seeker. Family, friends, food, and fun are my passions. I love seeking out new tastes, entertaining, cheese, thrift shopping, and red wine. I’m a shameless Francophile. If I’m not cooking, tasting, or talking about food, I must be asleep!
I come from a long line of wonderful Italian/Polish cooks and a long line of Sallies. My grandma, Sallie, could “take a pantry full of nothing and make something wonderful.”
My mom, Sally, was no slouch either! From huge holiday spreads to summer cookouts there was no shortage of exciting and delicious dishes on offer. She always prepared enough to feed an army. “Take two, they’re small,” was the typical instruction.
I’m a self-employed conference and event manager. Managing conferences and large-scale events is like throwing a party for 4-or 500 of your closest friends. It’s thrilling!
I also work part-time as a cheese monger at a natural food market where it seems everyone is passionate about eating and cooking great food. I love being around enthusiastic people. They fuel my curiosity and passion to learn more about everything I taste. To me, there’s nothing more satisfying than feeding people and forming connections with people through food.
I live in a tiny 2 bedroom house that I adore! My kitchen isn’t equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and gadgetry but I can turn out some delicious meals. I look for and create recipes that are simple and use the best-available ingredients that fit into my budget. I steer clear of recipes with tons of ingredients, complicated directions, and require specialized equipment. You know, “…for Dummies” meets budget gourmet. I subscribe to the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid).
Besides feeding people, my family, friends, and faith play an important role in my day-to-day life. My trusty sidekick in these culinary adventures is my Sweetie Pie (SP for short.) SP and I are always sniffing, reading, sampling, and seeking out new and wonderful tastes, sips, ingredients, recipes, and destinations from the world of food and drink.
